Most women blame themselves when they have a miscarriage and I include myself in the blame game. When you experience the loss of a child through miscarriage, you have this sense that you don't deserve sympathy because you go down into a dark place thinking it must have been something I did or didn’t do, and for that reason, you choose not to talk about it.

I want to honour and thank the Duchess of Sussex for bravely talking about her miscarriage enabling other mothers to stop the self-blame and talk about their loss. When the Duchess of Sussex famously said in a piece for the New York Times, "I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second." That brought back my painful loss back in 2005.
