Our vision for Southern Scotland is a place where a rich tapestry of native woodlands and wild places flourish, cared for by volunteers and local communities. Borders Forest Trust is a charity established to restore native woodland habitats to Southern Scotland.

Story

We will be attempting to climb 30 Munros over a 6 day period, as a continuous walk through the Cairngorms and Deeside, carrying all of our supplies with us. The route is approximately 90 miles with 25,000ft of elevation gain (the equivalent elevation of climbing Everest from Base Camp twice).

The idea came about as a way to celebrate my 30th birthday whilst doing something completely mad to challenge myself in the best way possible! Colin, Jane and Rob were stupid enough to say they would join me!

We're all lovers of nature and the outdoors and during training walks it's been hard not to notice the stark lack of trees in the uplands of Dumfries & Galloway.

It was very refreshing to stumble upon the Corehead Wildwood whilst out for a run near Moffat. Corehead is owned and managed by the Borders Forest Trust. It feels like an oasis of native woodland, wildflower meadows and montane scrub and a haven for wildlife.

We would love to use our crazy walk to direct attention and funds towards the Borders Forest Trust. They are a small charity and all of the funds will go directly to helping the restoration of healthy ecosystems in the Moffat hills, benefiting both people and wildlife.

Thank you to anyone who is able to donate or share this page.
