The 8008.5km (BOOBS) challenge

Cycling 8008.5km (aka BOOBS) for One More City London · 27 April 2024
With the change of the clocks comes a new challenge 🤩
Between now (last week of October as the clocks have rolled back) and Spring, I’m going to be attempting to cycle a total distance of 8008.5km. With the aim of completing my KM challenge in my final, bucket list and biggest ride to date: Mallorca 312 - 27th April, 2024.
Why 8008.5km I hear you cry? Well, ever used a calculator as a kid and written the word BOOBS on the screen using 8008.5? 😂 Once you see it, you can’t un-see it.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and a super important reminder for us ladies to check our boobs on the reg.
Something that once I started to do, I was able to catch two worryingly big lumps (one in Oct 2021 and again in Oct 2022) which were thankfully benign, with a couple of more recent worries.
Millions of women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. Early detection can save lives, which is why it’s so important to build checks in to routine and get a second opinion on lumps and bumps, if you’re ever uncertain.
Throughout the next few months, alongside riding as much as I can (outside and in - alongside a busy full time job and countless side projects 🫠😂) I’ll be sharing information to help make sure us ladies give our boobaloobs a check and fundraising along the way.
More to come, but time to saddle up.
Small boobs, big dreams and a super important cause.

The ethos of One More City is that the journey is never over; we are always progressing towards the next city, there are always more kilometres to do, more climbs to conquer and more challenges to face. This is akin to the reality of anyone living with cancer, especially secondary cancer, for whom the challenge is never over; there are always more treatments to endure, more scans to face, more side effects to manage.
