Story

From Foodbank “Fun” to Foodbank “Fun”draising!

March roars in like a Nittany Lion with a $500 chapter fundraising goal for the Foodbank!

Penn State alumni and friends will be spending a Saturday morning volunteering at the Foodbank in April. In addition, we’ve conducted online fundraising in 2021, 2022 and 2023 for those who could not join us.

We plan to keep our PENN STATE SPIRIT going to help when so many are fighting hunger and food insecurity magnified by COVID-19-- especially when March typically sees a dip in contributions.

Feeding America projects a 50% increase in food insecurity for our service area, and a 75% increase in food insecurity among children.

So, we’re tapping into the Foodbanks’ buying power. For every $30 we raise, foodbanks can purchase $90 worth of groceries for families in need in Hampton Roads! To kick off our campaign, the Chapter is contributing $100 to the Foodbank.

Our goal is to raise $500 by March 17, 2024. Make your donation today! Every dollar donated helps us provide 3 meals to those in our community struggling with food insecurity.
