Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a group of cyclists from the Perth area who get together on Saturday mornings for some two wheeled therapy.

(We are - Adam Scrimgeour, Derek Smith, Duncan Morrison, Kevin Lancaster, Richard Little, Jackie Chan, Robert Cartwright, Colin McCreath, Mike Neave, Barry McGuire, Gordon Larson, John Smith, Paul Fettes, Scott McCann)

Sportive Kinross (SK) is a mass participation cycling event starting and finishing in Kinross. Originally conceived and run in 2011, SK has now been going for 15 years and there has been Saturday Group participation every year. Sportive Kinross is proud to support Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

While waiting to start the SK last year, we got chatting about cycling challenges and the possibility of our Group using SK as a charity fundraising event.

SK provides 3 routes. The 'short' 46 mile Blue route is a good introduction to Sportives with a significant hill to climb. The classic 71 mile Red route is challenging but very achievable, while our 92 mile Black route with over 6000 ft of climbing is a challenge for any rider, especially so early in the year.

We've decided that a suitable challenge would be to try and get round all three routes on the day SK 2025 is being run, 26 April 2025. A total distance of 209 miles.

We'll be fundraising for SK's charity partner CHAS. CHAS offers care in two children's hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch. The hospices support the whole family by offering short planned breaks, emergency support, end of life care and a range of bereavement services.

CHAS also provides a home care service, called CHAS at Home, staffed from both hospices and with dedicated teams in the North of Scotland. The service offers care to families in their own homes when they need it most.

CHAS supports over 250 families, as well as a significant number of families who receive bereavement support. The services are funded mainly through the generosity of the many supporters who help raise over £7 million needed each year to provide these vital hospice services.

Part of the SK entry fee is already given directly to CHAS to help them continue their important work.
