We're taking part in the 'Face the Fire' Firewalk on Friday 17th November 2023 for Challengers, a local charity that provides fully inclusive play opportunities for disabled children and young people!

One of those young people is Peta's daughter Anna.

Anna has very severe cerebral palsy following a traumatic birth. She requires one to one support to enable her to take part in any activity. Anna is a full time wheelchair user, communicates using a communication device operated with her eyes and is tube fed. However she is cognitively very able, and likes to keep busy, particularly enjoying art and craft activities and role play games where she is in charge!🧡

Peta says:

"Anna has been attending Challengers since she was 4 years old. It is the only play scheme in our area that can, not only provide for Anna's care needs, but provide her with a vibrant, responsive, fun, energetic, friendly, inclusive, accessible, busy, musical, lively fabulous, place to play and make friends! 🧡"

Simona says:

"I have known Anna for about 7 years, and we've had various adventures since then. I am on her eye-gaze device with which she is currently usually instructing me to role-play the Simpsons!

Anna loves Challengers. She cannot wait to go and is happy (and tired) when she gets back.

Challengers also gives Peta (mum) a couple of hours a month to have some time at the weekend, or during the holidays, to be able to let someone else care for Anna. Knowing that Anna is safe, respected, and causing fun mayhem!"
