Pete's Funds for The Forge

Peter Smith is raising money for The Forge Project

Falling for The Forge · 16 August 2026

We provide a safe, non-judgemental environment where service users can access hot meals and support to meet their basic human needs. We work together with partner agencies to enable service users to move towards a safer and healthier lifestyle on their journey out of homelessness.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Having planned a skydive of my own, I asked to join nine members of North Lincolnshire Council staff, drawn from across Adults and Health/Housing, Rehabilitation and Recovery and Waste Management who'll be trading the safety of their offices in a 15,000ft leap of faith at the same time.

On 16th August 2026, I'll join them in jumping for The Forge Project to support those supporting others, to move towards a safer and healthier lifestyle on their journey out of homelessness.

Unexpected homelessness is something that can impact anyone. I've witnessed first-hand the devastating toll this can take, the far-reaching physical and mental toll - not least on those those whose unending fortitude initially refuses to allow them to reach out for help.

I've chosen to create this space in the hope to be able to contribute personally as I'm fortunate in that my employer, not within the Local Authority, will double anything I personally raise (up to £500). For this I needed independent fundraising. My skydive is already paid for. Every penny will go directly to the charity - and every penny is a step to making a difference.

At over 2.8 miles nearer the sun it's the UK's highest non-commercial skydive. I can only hope that the involvement and professionalism of others around me (strapped to me in this case), will have a positive impact on me not having a negative impact! - There's a metaphor for this charity's work in there somewhere.

The Forge Project's mission statement is simple and profound:

We provide a safe, non-judgemental environment where service users can access hot meals and support to meet their basic human needs. We work together with partner agencies to enable service users to move towards a safer and healthier lifestyle on their journey out of homelessness.
