On Saturday 4th July, I’ll be taking on my biggest running challenge yet: The Serpent, a 100km ultra marathon across the South Downs.

While I’ve always enjoyed running and completed a marathon a few years ago, stepping up to the ultra-marathon distance is a completely different challenge and very much unknown territory for me. Covering 100 kilometres will push me to my limits, both physically and mentally, and will require determination, resilience, and plenty of perseverance to reach the finish line.

I wanted to take on a challenge that would truly test me, and more importantly, one that could help support a cause that means a great deal to me. I’m raising money for my good friend Dan’s little boy, and every donation will help make a real difference.

A bit about the cause and Teddy below:

At 11am on 24th January 2024, Teddy's parents were told he has a life limiting mitochondrial disease, and an extremely rare defected gene (DNAJC19). This defected gene causes something called dilated cardiomyopathy, which is the degeneration of Teddy's heart.

To the doctors knowledge, Teddy is only 1 of 55 in the world to carry this, and the only known case in the UK, so we have limited research and unfortunately no cure.

I want to help Teddy and his family to give hope to all those effected by mitochondrial disease so I am supporting The Lily Foundation a charity dedicated to funding vital research to find a cure and support families like Teddy.
