Story

Hello everybody!

On June 8th/9th 2024, I am running for 24 hours in the Endure24 event in Reading. I will be fundraising for Young Lives vs Cancer. Hopefully as well as achieving some personal goals, it will be a great opportunity to raise money and awareness for this charity. My aim is to complete 100 miles within the 24 hours but will probably be a case of what my body can manage 🤞🏼

This will be the toughest running challenge I have ever done and will probably ever do so all of your support, messages and advice will be massive in helping get through the day and night. I will be setting off at 12 noon on the Saturday. The loop is 8km around Wasing Park and I will be running alongside relay teams and other solo efforts.

All donations would be really appreciated and would go towards helping young people and the battles they face against cancer. Awareness and funding is vital for charities like Young Lives to survive and make a difference in supporting individuals and their families.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn or talk to.

Here are how some of the donations can help -

· £10 could pay towards an hour of care from the team around a family, so that they have the emotional and financial support they need from Young Lives vs Cancer.

· £22 could help pay for a Young Lives vs Cancer Big Bag. Young Lives vs Cancer Big Bags are given to families when their child is first diagnosed with cancer. They contain essential items for a hospital stay such as toiletries, a teddy, a thermal mug, Young Lives vs Cancer information booklets and much more. The bags help parents prepare for when their child begins treatment and they’re traveling to and from hospital a lot.

· £38 could pay for a family to stay overnight in one of Young Lives vs Cancer’s Homes from Home, providing free self-catering accommodation near to specialist children’s cancer treatment centres, which are often many miles from a family’s own home. Head to our website to find out more about our homes from home – you can even take a virtual tour of one of our Homes online
