Peter's fundraiser for Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity

Peter Harwood is raising money for Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity

bike ride · 11 October 2026

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity is the principle charity of the Royal Navy. Beneficiaries lie at the heart of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity's purpose, it is our duty to remain focused on their needs. Since 2007, we have funded projects and facilities that boost morale for those who serve today. We also distribute millions of pounds annually to military charities which care for the children, families and veterans of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

Story

I am taking on an extreme ultra-endurance cycling challenge, riding from John O'Groats to Land's End in just 7 days, covering approximately 980 miles (1,577 km) to raise money for the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

As a currently serving member of the Royal Navy based in Scotland, this challenge means a great deal to me. Over the course of seven consecutive days, I'll average around 140 miles (225 km) every day, tackling steep climbs, unpredictable weather, and long hours in the saddle.

This is far more than just a bike ride. It is a test of resilience, determination, and mental strength, all while raising vital funds for a charity that supports serving personnel, veterans, and their families. Every mile ridden is dedicated to giving something back to the Royal Navy community and helping ensure that those who have served, and those still serving, receive the support they deserve.
