Story
24hours, 47miles and 2,500m of climbing around Windermere……….not my usual weekend……..
6am on Saturday, 11th May sees me starting The Lap (clockwise) The Lap It is a 47mile run all the way around Windermere in the Lake District. I have 24 hours (and will probably need most of them) to cover the distance and get up and down the 2,500m of climbing along the way.
I’ve never attempted anything like this before and injuring my calf in the past two weeks after a decent amount of training hasn’t helped!!
Aside from the challenge and just to see if I can do something like this before the next big birthday, I am raising money for the Manchester Youth Zone.
Many of us have been able to provide our families with a wide choice of activities and opportunities to build their skills, confidence and make friends. For many families and children in our big cities this isn’t the case. Manchester Youth Zone provide young people aged 8-19 opportunities to raise their aspirations and enjoy healthier, happier lives.
By providing young people with somewhere to go, something to do, someone to talk to they are making a real difference in Manchester. Your donation will help them to provide top class facilities and supervision. The impact they can make for many of the young people they are able to engage with is truly staggering.
