The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

Welcome to Peter Hook’s JustGiving page which is giving fans the opportunity to support Hooky as he runs his 15th Great Manchester Run in aid of The Christie, the largest single-site cancer centre in Europe looking after more than 60,000 patients a year.

Hooky has done the 10K run in aid of The Christie every year for the last 15 years.

Having lived a stone's throw from The Christie in Withington, Hooky first became aware of The Christie’s work after seeing patients travelling to and from the hospital for treatment. He also experienced The Christie firsthand when his close friends and family members were treated; former band manager Tony Wilson, musician Dave Dee (of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich) and his aunt and father-in-law.

Speaking ahead of this year’s event, Hooky said: “The Christie is something we should all be incredibly proud of. To have a world-leading cancer hospital here in Manchester is fantastic. I’ve had many friends treated at the hospital and some have had positive outcomes and others sadly not. But they, their friends and families have all received the same outstanding level of treatment, love and care and I can’t think of a better cause to support.”
