Bournemouth → Around the Isle of Wight → Bournemouth

The four-week challenge window is now open, and from now I’ll be ready to make the attempt on any day when the conditions are right.

The goal is to start from Bournemouth, circumnavigate the Isle of Wight on a kite hydrofoil, and return to Bournemouth, covering approximately 160–200 km (around 100 miles). The journey could take around 8–10 hours on the water, depending on the wind, tide and sea conditions.

Circumnavigating the Isle of Wight on a kite foil has been completed before, but starting and finishing in Bournemouth adds approximately another 40–50 km to the challenge.

I’ll be closely watching the forecast and waiting for the right combination of wind, tide and sea conditions before choosing the day. This is an attempt rather than a guaranteed completion, as the success of the challenge will depend heavily on the conditions. I will only start when I believe there is a realistic and safe opportunity to complete the full journey.

The attempt will be undertaken without direct support on the water, using standard kite and 100cm hydrofoil board . I’ll have live GPS tracking so supporters can follow the journey, and I’ll document the preparation and attempt with photos and video.

I wanted this challenge to be about more than personal achievement — I want it to help cats that need care, protection and a second chance. All funds raised will support the Cats Protection Bournemouth Branch — a small team of dedicated, cat-loving volunteers who work to improve the lives of local cats and kittens across BH1–BH25, helping them find loving new homes and offering support with neutering. Many of the cats they help need veterinary attention, and this simply wouldn't be possible without donations and fundraising like this.Every donation, no matter how small, will support the important work Cats Protection does for cats across the UK.

If you’d like to support the attempt, please donate, share this page and follow the journey. Your support will give me an extra reason to keep going when the wind, waves and tired legs start making things difficult!

Thank you for supporting me and, most importantly, supporting Cats Protection. 🐈❤️
