Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In 2022, I faced a life-changing diagnosis: a growth in my bladder that required immediate attention. During surgery, it was revealed that this growth was a tumour that had originated in my colon and spread to my bladder. The tumour weighed an astonishing 2.5kg, and following it's removal and the removal of my bladder and prostate, I was left with a colostomy and urostomy. Without this critical intervention, I would not be here today.
I have undergone two additional surgeries since then, which allowed me to regain some normalcy by eliminating the colostomy; however, I will always live with a urostomy. While this is a significant change in my life, it is far better than the alternative of not being here at all.
To demonstrate that having cancer does not signify the end of life, I have decided to participate in the Great North Run on September 7th, 2025. At 70 years old and with a false knee, this challenge is not without its difficulties; however, I am determined to show others that resilience can triumph over adversity.
I am raising funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research because they play a vital role in pioneering early diagnosis and discovering new treatments for cancer patients. Their groundbreaking research leads to life-saving medical breakthroughs that help more people survive cancer—not just in Yorkshire but beyond.
I kindly ask for your support in reaching my target of £250. Your contributions will make a meaningful difference in the fight against cancer and help ensure that others have access to better treatment options.
