Mackenzie's Mission To The Glen

Peter Mackenzie is raising money for Breast Cancer UK

MACKENZIE'S MISSION TO THE GLEN · 19 August 2025

Breast Cancer UK raises awareness of the preventable risk factors for breast cancer. We provide practical information to help lower people’s risk. We campaign for policy change to support prevention, and fund scientific research to help improve our understanding of how to stop the disease.

Story

This was my third fundraising event for Breast Cancer UK. They are such a wonderful cause and every penny counts! My previous two challenges have seen me reach in the excess of £23,000!!

I have just completed my most recent mission which was a two day event. On Day 1 Tuesday 19th August I played at Dumbarnie Links, after that I walked 43 miles over to Milnathort. Then on Day 2 Wednesday 20th August after just after 2 hours sleep I played Milnathort Golf Club in the dark with the assistance of glow in the dark balls and head torches. From there I walked 25 miles over the hills to Gleneagles where finished with a round on the King's Course. In total the mileage covered was just over 85 miles in less than 34 hours! And burnt over 18,000 calories!! The event was a huge success and it was great to hear my piper play me in down the 18th to a huge applause from the crowd waiting for my arrival.

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. Over 55,000 women and 390 men a year are diagnosed with breast cancer. Yet around a third of these cases are preventable.

Breast Cancer UK is working to prevent breast cancer through education, scientific research, collaboration and policy change.

Breast Cancer UK provides practical advice and tips on how we can reduce our risk. They campaign for changes to national health policies to support prevention, and fund research to help improve our understanding of how to stop the disease.
