Grassroots Rwanda is a uk charity working with the Anglican Diocese of shoygwe in Rwanda working with the poorest furthest from the tarmac road.

In the region of Munazi the charity has built a nursery school allowing children from the surrounding area a start in education. When I was there in February 2026 rooms were full of happy children. As all education is done in English these children were learning in both their local language and English. The children are provided with lunch at the nursery school but this has to be brought in several miles by bicycle. However there is room behind the nursery to build an on-site kitchen to allow children some hot food each day. The land is there and the cost of building a kitchen is £3,000.
