In 2013 we experienced one of the most challenging experiences a couple can have, being told that your unborn baby would not survive. After Tilly's arrival we were fortunate to spend time in hospital with her and for her grandparents to come and meet her.

We were not able to make use of the butterfly suite in Southend hospital because sadly it was already being used for another family experiencing devastating loss.

The butterfly suite offers the time, space, and facilities necessary to support your stay, and offers the opportunity to make memories with your baby. It is a much needed and valuable asset to Southend Hospital to provide a comforting space to families.

The suite has an en-suite shower room and kitchen area, equipped with toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities.

There’s also cold cot and cuddle cot facilities. All items needed to enable the family to make memories and spend time with their baby are all present in the room.
