Last year we walked from Bristol to London to raise money for the Hands Up Project; we raised over £18,000. This year we are walking from the Alpujarra mountains to Granada, in Spain, then from Bristol to London, starting on February 28th and ending on March 22nd. We will take part in the Ramadan fast and share Iftar at Mosques, in solidarity with the Muslim community. Funds raised this year will go to the Hands Up School in Cairo, where children who have escaped from Gaza are taught by Palestinian teachers and by volunteers from around the world. Forty children are taught at the school. We will be speaking their poems at events along the route of the Pilgrimage. Money raised will be used for school trips, to pay the teachers, buy school equipment and pay rent for the school premises.
