Peter's Welsh 3000ers challenge for Ilkley and District Good Neighbours

Peter Roll is raising money for Ilkley and District Good Neighbours

Climbing the Welsh 3000ers solo in a day · 19 May 2025

Ilkley & District Good Neighbours provides a range of social and practical schemes, using the power of community action to make a difference in people’s daily lives. Each of our schemes is supported by a wonderful team of volunteers who are willing to help others around them.

Story

Ilkley Good Neighbours has been a lifeline for older and vulnerable people in our community for 50 years—offering everything from shopping help and befriending to dementia support and social groups. As a volunteer, I’ve seen firsthand the difference they make every day.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, I’m taking on a personal challenge that’s been 30 years in the making: climbing, solo, all 15 Welsh 3000ers—over 50km (31miles) and 15 peaks above 3,000 feet—in just one day. At 60, and never having gone beyond marathon distance, this is well outside my comfort zone. But it's a goal I’m ready to tackle for a cause I believe in.

I’m asking for your support. Every donation will help Ilkley Good Neighbours continue their incredible work for the next 50 years. Your generosity will inspire me through every step—and more importantly, it will help provide care, companionship, and connection to those who need it most.

Thank you for your support as I take on this challenge on May 19th, 2025. Together, we can make a lasting difference.
