Peter Rush is raising money for Myeloma UK

Showcasing our Lemax Christmas Village · 15 December 2025

Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. We make it possible to live longer and better lives with myeloma. Through research and treatments, we find new ways to a cure. Together, we are the cure.

Story

On my birthday in November of 2022, I was diagnosed with a treatable, but currently incurable, form of cancer called Multiple Myeloma.

This diagnosis was preceded by my youngest daughter being told that she had breast cancer two weeks earlier.

In May of 2022, we hoped to see a change in our family’s circumstances, as we loudly ‘Rang the Bell’ for our Grandson Humphrey, following his 4 year long battle to beat Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (he was diagnosed at one, which is far, far to young!) My oldest daughter and son-in-law were told that as an identical twin, Elliot, Humph’s brother, now has an 85% chance of also being diagnosed. As a family, we cling to that 15% chance, he won’t!

So as I look forward to the future, I am thankful for the support the three of us have received. The staff at Lincoln County, Nottingham City and Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Glasgow) have been excellent, as have the people at Myeloma UK and the Macmillan Nurses!

The great news is the two main people have been told they are cancer free!

Me? I’m now under-going chemotherapy again, as my cancer has returned. This follows several Sepsis diagnosis, two successive stem cell transplants and my right femur being ‘nailed,’ This fortunately gave me 18 months, in remission.

So in light of the above; As we both love Christmas, my wife and I decided to create some Lemax Christmas magic, by building a small display in the corner of our lounge (the problem was, our ‘smalls’ weren’t quite the same) 😂

It took us a month to complete and whilst it’s certainly not up there with the best on YouTube, we love it and we hope that you do too.

If you do, please feel free to donate to what I consider to be a wonderful and supportive charity.

Finally, please accept my apologies for the quality of the video. In my defence, age and bending, are not always the best of bedfellows 😂
