Thank you for stopping by. Later this Spring, Southborough Lion Peter Sewell will be attempting his fourth Southampton Half Marathon in aid of Imago.

Imago is a social action charity offering a wide range of support services for people of all ages in Kent, Sussex and London including:-

* Community Transport volunteers taking people who can't access public transport to medical and other important appointments. Clients include older people and those with illnesses or disabilities. In 2024 they provided 6098 drives over 97,643 miles in West Kent alone.

* Offering volunteering opportunities to boost mental and physical wellbeing, connection with others and improving employment opportunities

*Emotional and practical support for young carers. Around 1/5 children have caring responsibilities e.g. sick or disabled parent. Of these, 27% miss school, 67% worry about the future and 23% say it impacts friendships. Poor mental health and physical injuries (e.g. strains from lifting) are common. The average GCSE grade for a child carer is 3. Imago provides 1:1 emotional support, works with schools, provides respite care, activities and crisis support

*Support for regular visitors to GP practices for whom there are limited medical solutions

*Work with schools to provide 1:1 emotional support, safe spaces, skills workshops, activities for young people who really need it for health, family or other reasons.

This is a pretty impressive list of support for people in our / your communities provided by volunteers and delivering real benefit every day. You will have realised that without this support and these services, many vulnerable young people and adults will really struggle and could be at risk in many ways. Imago works with councils like East Sussex, Havering, Kent, Lewisham, Bexley, Greenwich and Southwark. They are a registered charity no 1108388.
