Story
I'm taking part in the 2026 TCS London Marathon for Cure Parkinson's because they are here for the cure.
My mum has inspired me; She was a strong woman bringing up four boys and our dad!
Mum was loving, caring and hardworking. My mum worked full time in Barclays Bank, but still managed to come home, cook a meal for us all, do the washing, ironing (sometimes 5 shirts a day) and still had a smile on her face.
Mum, you are sorely missed by your husband, four sons, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
You may have gone but you are always in our hearts and in our thoughts. We watched you suffer over a Ten-year period, and we all felt helpless in what we could do or change, to make things better for you!
Did we know what Parkinson’s was when mum was first diagnosed, which took a while, the answer is No! Do we fully understand it now? The answer is NO!
Mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and Lewy Dementia, and finally passed away on the 9th December 2020. I am Sixty next year so want to pay tribute to her courage and spirit in fighting Parkinson’s and to raise money so there is a better understanding of this awful illness and the suffering it causes.
So not to dwell but to look to the future and wear the shirt of Cure Parkinson’s with pride and run with my mum by my side.
Thank you for reading my inspiration.
Peter
