At the tender age of 82, I have decided to fundraise for the Safety Centre Hazard Alley in Milton Keynes and support Rotary International’s End Polio Now campaign by undertaking a Sky Walk at RAF Duxford this August.

The Safety Centre was the first interactive, immersive safety education charity, it specialises in teaching children, young people and adults about how to stay safe, understand risks and avoid accidents using realistic learning experiences.

Every year, around 12,000 children and vulnerable adults visit and learn valuable and memorable skills through the Safety Centre’s interactive village as well as through their outreach programme in schools. The centre subsidises each visit by at least 50% to ensure that the experience is affordable and accessible, teaching these vital skills to as many people as possible. The charity team also impacts over 15,000 children in the community on critical learning related to knife crime intervention and reducing incidents of violence against women and girls.

As a trustee of The Safety Centre, I am committed to helping their vital work to continue, so have chosen them as my preferred charity.

I am also a Rotarian and am supporting Rotary International’s End Polio Now campaign because we've seen a worldwide reduction in polio cases of 99.9% since 1988. We now have a real chance to eradicate this debilitating disease for good!
