Story

I'm Climbing Kilimanjaro! (Yes, Really. 😮)

As part of the 50th Anniversary of The King’s Trust, I’ll be joining my sister to take on the huge challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, in February 2026 — aiming to summit on St. David’s Day (1st March). 🏔️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

As I am sure you know, this is way out of my comfort zone. It’s going to take months of training, weight loss, getting much fitter & a lot less wine 🥂 drinking to be able to reach the summit. This challenge is going to be physically and mentally demanding – high altitude, freezing temperatures, and days of trekking uphill. It’s definitely an upgrade on my Duke of Edinburgh Awards hikes when I was 15 🤣. I’m doing this not just to push myself, but to raise funds for an amazing cause.

I grew up in Wales & The King’s Trust believes every young person deserves the chance to succeed, no matter their background. But growing inequality continues to hold many back — especially those already facing challenges. My sister was supported by The Kings Trust as a teenager and is now the Director (Wales) at the Trust.

Taking on Kilimanjaro is going to be a serious physical and mental test for me, but I’m doing it to help make a difference. By supporting this climb, you’ll not only be backing me through this huge personal challenge — you’ll also be helping The King’s Trust provide vital skills, support, and opportunities to young people across Wales.

I still haven't quite comprehended that I have committed to this so thanks in advance & wish me luck!
