Story
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system. It affects more than 11,000 people in the UK. One in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes it, usually without knowing.
Cystic fibrosis comes with its challenges, affecting our physical health, mental wellbeing and how we choose to live our lives. But the CF community is uniting towards the ultimate goal of effective treatment for all.
Peter’s Great Grandson George was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 3 weeks, and what has followed has been nothing short of a whirlwind of information and adjustments.
One thing we can safely say is that due to the relentless work of the CF trust and many others like it, we don't have to say we have a poorly baby with a life limiting disease.
What we can say is we have a happy, thriving and healthy boy with a well managed condition, and this is all thanks to the incredible trust and the teams they work with.
I can't thank you enough for what you have done for my boy and our family!
Peter’s wish was to take on this challenge of walking Ben Nevis one more time at 90 years of age. Today Peter achieved his wish and climbed Ben Nevis to support this amazing charity and the incredible work they do for our George and other children.
We would appreciate any donations to support this charity in the amazing services they offer to families like ours. As Peter would say “but I would walk five hundred miles, and I would walk five hundred more “ 🥾
