Story
I'm running my first marathon on Sunday 6th April.
Yes, a full marathon. 26.2 miles. On purpose.
Am I seriously doing this? Apparently, yes. (yikes)
In doing so, I’ve chosen to fundraise for Amnesty International – a charity doing brave, vital, and compassionate work, fighting for human rights across the globe.
I'll be matching the first £250 of funds raised, and I'm incredibly grateful in advance for your generosity and support.
It means the world. Thank you.
Who are Amnesty International UK?
There’s never been a more important time to stand up for human rights.
Across the globe people are being silenced, persecuted, and denied their basic freedoms; imprisoned, tortured, silenced, or even killed simply for speaking out, or standing up for who they are.
Amnesty investigate abuses, hold governments to account, and fight for people who’ve had their voices taken from them.
Their work is courageous, compassionate, and I think it's absolutely (and completely) essential.
Who do they support?
Amnesty works across a huge range of issues – from defending freedom of speech and protest rights, to fighting for the rights of refugees, migrants, and people facing racial or gender-based discrimination.
They campaign for:
- Refugees and people on the move
- Women’s and girls' rights
- Freedom of protest and expression
- LGBTQ+ equality
- Children in conflict
- Ending torture and the death penalty
- Climate justice
- Racial justice and policing reform
- Protecting human rights defenders
Their reach is global, but their impact is deeply personal. I hope you can consider donating.
