Story

We are excited to once again support the Scott Carter Foundation for the upcoming 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. We will be participating in the 10 km (JP, Jen, Nicole, Alison), Half Marathon (Jen, Alison), Marathon (JP, Nicole). It has been our Petrie Family mission to keep runDisney as an important part of our lives. The Scott Carter Foundation has made a difference for children's cancer research in the honor of a courageous young boy, Scott Carter. We are hoping to contribute to his legacy and use his inspiration to keep our family moving forward on a path of healthier living.

We are hopeful to exceed our fundraising goal. Any contribution you can make will make a difference and is greatly appreciated! Please identify yourself for the donation so that we can say THANK YOU!

The SCF is devoted to raising funds for children's cancer research. Scott was a 13-year old boy who died in December 1993 after a courageous three-year battle with bone cancer. He believed that if enough time, energy and money were devoted to children's cancer research, a cure could be found. During the duration of his illness, he put together a remarkable collection of sports and celebrity memorabilia, which was previously on display at the Wide World of Sports. Each year, SCF partners with runDisney to participate in all their run events to raise money and further Scott's dream of finding a cure!
