Story
This year, 1st Sandstone are taking our largest ever group to Kandersteg International Scout Centre, an amazing site in Switzerland. This is an inspirational trip for all of our young people, giving them opportunities to try a whole host of activities in the Alps, learn life skills, and most importantly, engage with hundreds of other Scouts from groups across the globe. Unfortunately, inflation, exchange rates, and airlines dynamic pricing are not our friends this year, so I have been inspired to take on some additional fundraising to support our plans.
Running doesn't come naturally to me. Until a couple of years ago, I would have gone as far as to say I hated running and avoided it as far as possible for 20 years. Now I'm taking on the Chester 10km in March, and the Half Marathon in May. Why? Because I believe this trip is so important to our young people and they will gain experiences and memories to last them a lifetime - with the bonus that the improved fitness levels might help me keep up with them on the hikes! So if you can spare a little to support us on this amazing adventure, we will all be very grateful.
