Ginger Nut, our staff and learners , believe that people who are homeless / at risk of homelessness deserve support , care and love which is why in April 2025 we will be raising funds for Emmaus Colchester. To support the cause personally I will be doing a sponsored swim on the 27th April and attempting 150 lengths of Colchester Leisure worlds 25 meter pool. Whilst this might not seem far for many I am unfortunately a clinically obese middle aged man who doesn't do much exercise other than the occasional hit at tennis. The reason homelessness is a cause close to my heart is that at the age of 17 I left home and "moved" to the streets of Paris in a rather vulnerable state. I was fortunate enough to meet many kind people along the way who looked after me and showed me much care and love and I believe others deserve the same and often do not get it. I love Emmaus and all that they stand for and I would urge others to donate, raise money through their networks and join ginger nut in a sponsored activity in April 2025 or even just pop in to one of their wonderful shops across the country and buy some of their furniture.
