Story

Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.

Thank you for choosing to trek for Alzheimer's Society, together we can be help and hope to everyone affected by dementia.

There are some causes that you choose… and there are others that choose you. For me, this one is deeply personal.

My mum is 92 years old. She has lived a full life, filled with love, strength, and memories that shaped our family. But dementia has slowly been taking those memories away. It doesn’t just affect the person living with it — it touches everyone around them. You begin to lose little pieces of the person you’ve always known, and there’s a quiet heartbreak in that which’s difficult to put into words.

Last year, thanks to the kindness and generosity of so many people, I was able to raise over £1500. That support meant more than I can ever truly express. It wasn’t just about the money — it was about people coming together, showing compassion, and standing alongside families like mine who are facing this every day.

This year, I want to do even more.

That’s why I’m taking on this trek for Alzheimer’s Society — an organisation that is doing incredible work to change the future of dementia. They are there for people right now, offering support, guidance, and understanding when it’s needed most. And they are also looking ahead, funding vital research and campaigning to make dementia the priority it truly should be.

Because no family should have to feel this helpless.

No one should have to watch a loved one fade without hope.

And no one facing dementia should ever feel alone.

This journey is for my mum. It’s for every family sitting quietly with the same worries, the same heartbreak, and the same hope that one day things will be different. It’s for a future where dementia no longer devastates lives the way it does today.

Every step I take on this trek will be for her.

Every donation, no matter how small, helps bring us closer to better care, better support, and one day — a cure.

If you supported me last year, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Truly. And if you’re able to support again, or for the first time, please know that it makes a real difference.

Together, we can be part of something bigger.

Together, we can bring help for today and hope for tomorrow.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
