London to Brighton Cycle September · 15 September 2024 ·

The London to Brighton Cycle is back and we are looking to go bigger than ever. The largest ever number of Team Bowel Cancer UK cyclists are coming together with one aim - a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.

Story

I am raising money in memory of Craig Macartney, my much loved brother-in-law, who sadly lost his fight with this disease in May this year.

It is the vision of Bowel Cancer UK for a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer but this cannot be achieved without support. Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity and they are determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.

Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer, with over 16,500 people dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable, and curable. BCUK is determined to change this. The funds raised from the London to Brighton Cycle will help them to provide support and information to patients and their families, enable them to fund and support research into bowel cancer and allow them to campaign for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.

I watched Craig for almost 5 years battle this disease. I'm not a runner but I can ride a bike and so I told him I would do this for him. Sadly he is not here to see me struggle up Ditchling Beacon but uncle Craig, I love you!

Thank you.
