Move for Pituitary Awareness – Taking on the Challenge!
Please support this fundraising initiative by making a donation on my page - thanks so much!
This April, I am taking part in the Pituitary Foundation's Move Your Way movement challenge.
I am going to do enough steps in April, as recorded on my phone, to represent the equivalent of walking from my own front door in Bath to the Tower of London - a distance of about 120 miles, and the equivalent for me of 250,000 steps. This will no doubt involve a lot of long walks during the month, which will be a meaningful challenge and excellent for my health.
I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumour in 1996, and have for many years been hypopituitary - such that none of my hormones work.
The Pituitary Foundation does a wonderful job of providing information and help to pituitary patients and their families around the UK.
I have been a volunteer in the office at the Foundation for more than 10 years, a Trustee since 2019 and Treasurer since 2021. Working with the charity and its wonderful team of staff and trustees has been one of the joys of my life, and I am keen to help with the fundraising by participating in this challenge.
Pituitary conditions can affect energy, mobility, mental health and everyday life. That’s why this challenge is about moving in a way that works for anyone. Please consider taking part if you would like to do something active and challenging in April and would like to support the charity - just think of a suitable challenge for you, find the event on JustGiving and click on Start Fundraising!
