Story
Our son George was diagnosed with a serious form of epilepsy before he was one year old – fortunately, this was caught early, with emergency medication limiting its impact on his development. However, he has suffered with seizures ever since, with numerous different medications not being able to control these. Last year, after various medical investigations at both Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, George underwent epilepsy surgery to take out the part of his brain where the seizures were originating from, to give him the chance of a seizure-free future.
Throughout all our dealings with both hospitals, as well as providing excellent medical care, the staff have always done everything they can to make George feel comfortable, and entertained, providing him with toys, access to sensory rooms, and outdoor areas to break the monotony of what have been some lengthy stays in hospital.
I’m doing this sky-dive to raise money for these two hospitals – to show my thanks for all they have done to give him the chance of a better future, and to help them continue to give the same amazing care and support to other families and children who need their help every day.
RMCH say; "As a charity our mission is simple: to support the excellence in treatment, research and care we provide to our patients each and every day. We want to make a real difference to the people we treat – young and old – by making sure that they continue to receive the very best treatment in the very best facilities."
