Phil's Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for Miscarriage UK

Phil Whyman is raising money for Miscarriage UK

Yorkshire Three Peaks

Our vision: A society where every miscarriage is recognised and met with knowledge, compassion, and understanding. Our mission: Our mission is to guide people through pregnancy loss with the information and support they need – for themselves, for their patients, and for society.

Story

In April 2027, I'll be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds and awareness for Miscarriage UK, a charity whose work is particularly close to my heart.

Having experienced six consecutive miscarriages. It's something that has had a profound impact on my life, and an experience that will always stay with me: six shining stars that will always be remembered, and it's in their memory that I'm undertaking this challenge.

Why the Yorkshire Three Peaks?

This will be my third attempt at completing the challenge.

I've attempted the Yorkshire Three Peaks twice before, both times to raise awareness of baby loss. On both occasions, I completed the first two peaks, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside, but was unable to complete the third and final peak, Ingleborough.

I've always felt that I had unfinished business.

So, in April 2027, I'm going back.

The challenge covers approximately 24 miles, taking in three Yorkshire peaks and over 5,000 feet of ascent, with the aim of completing the route in a single day.

I'll be joined by a small group of good friends who have kindly agreed to take on the challenge alongside me. I'll also be filming and documenting my training and the hike itself, sharing the journey and helping to raise awareness of pregnancy loss.

Why Miscarriage UK?

Pregnancy loss affects many people, often in ways that aren't immediately apparent to those around them.

Miscarriage UK (formerly The Miscarriage Association) provides information, understanding and support to those affected by miscarriage.

Through this challenge, I hope to raise funds to support their work and encourage greater awareness and understanding of pregnancy loss.

Every donation, regardless of the amount, will be greatly appreciated. And if you're unable to donate, sharing this page would also be a wonderful way to support the cause.

Above all, this challenge is about remembering my six shining stars and, through that remembrance, doing something positive for others who have experienced pregnancy loss.

Third attempt. Three peaks. Twenty-four miles.

For six shining stars.

This time, I'm determined to finish.

Thank you for your support.
