Phil's fundraiser for Amnesty International UK

Athens Marathon · 9 November 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
This will be my third marathon. Having previously raised money for the Terrence Higgins Trust, the HIV charity that saved my life, I am very proud to continue to work for them now as a sexual health advisor through Positive Voices.
This year I want to go global, and help more people worldwide, not only those from my HIV community.
This year, I will be taking on the challenge of completing the Athens Marathon in Greece. My first international race, in a city that I recently fell in love with and the birth place of the Marathon race, to raise money for Amnesty International.
As a gay man living with HIV in the UK, I never take for grated my access to help and support, especially from my friends, family and the charities that have helped me.
Amnesty International is a movement of ordinary people from across the world standing up for humanity and human rights. When injustice happens to one person, it happens to us all.
Recent campaigns include refugee and migrant rights, climate change, children's rights, women's rights, Syrian conflict and LGBTI rights. Amnesty's biggest achievements include outlawing torture, holding war criminals to account and controlling the arms trade.
