We will be fundraising for solar energy solutions within communities close to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda.

They will be implemented within 2 schools & a ranger outpost.

The direct beneficiaries will be approximately 2000 people, and due to the rangers now being able to sleep near to the gorillas at the ranger outpost, (which has befitted from all 3 projects; water, sanitation & now solar energy), some of the direct beneficiaries are also the actual gorillas!

We will, as part of a team of 9 people (led by Leo and Casey Gripari), be trekking into the solitude & wilderness of 75,000 acres of the Kanab Creek. We will spend 3 nights camping in the wilderness, carrying all supplies (when no doubt those backpacks of approx 20kgs will be feeling a little heavier than we expected in the daytime heat). there will be thousands of feet of daily descents and ascents on off-trail rugged routes deep into the canyon.

This solar energy project will add to the already successful That Gorilla Brand Bwindi Community Projects, with so far over 15,000 direct beneficiaries for clean water and over 5000 children have been impacted through the sanitation/toilet project. Indirectly over 100,000 people have benefitted from these projects.

The goal is that by the end of this 3rd project (solar energy), that in total the our reach for direct beneficiaries of the Bwindi Community projects is close to or beyond 20,000 people.
