It's June 2025, the MacMillan Challenge is here, taking on the Yorkshire Dales Mighty Hike to help raise money for people living with cancer. It's will have been two years since my initial diagnosis of a Rare Blood cancer and in my case the platelet count is back within range thanks to the chemo that i will be on for the long term, but the prognosis is that its controllable. There is a close family history with varied types, but it was a bit of a game changer to get the diagnosis of one's own. Two years on one definitely realises that we get one shot at this, and quite a lot has happened since June 2023, including the set up of WesterHayes . It has been enlightening.

Thoughts are with those who have not been as fortunate as myself, and their families, and this fundraising is to help find solutions to the range of Cancers, notably blood. Two years ago I did the Pentlands Peaks Silver which got me half way there. Now it's time to go for Gold and the full distance.
