Story
On 12 May 2024, I am taking on a Mighty Hike (a half marathon), with my good friend, Rene, along the North Norfolk coastline to raise money for people living with cancer.
Obviously this includes me as I was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in October last year and am now undergoing chemotherapy. I hope to have completed this treatment by the start of the hike.
I have pledged to raise £250 and would appreciate any support in reaching this. If just 24 Facebook friends, Instagram followers or LinkedIn connections could donate £10 then I can reach my target.
There are three million people living with cancer in the UK. By fundraising my pledge, I could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for two days who could provide emotional, practical and financial advice to someone affected by cancer.
I am personally currently receiving 6 sessions of BUPA counselling via Macmillan. This costs money to run, but is free to me as a cancer patient.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs. Macmillan will receive 100% of all donations. Please tick gift aid, too, if you are a UK taxpayer.
I will post regular updates about training on this page.
Thank you for reading.
