Story
Join Our Virtual Bike Ride for CDG UK from the 30th june-6th July!
We are a dedicated team from Specsavers and Pure Gym in London Colney, coming together to support CDG UK, a charity committed to improving the lives of individuals affected by Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG).
Our mission is to collectively cycle the equivalent distance from London Colney to Great Ormond Street Hospital – a challenging yet achievable 25.7 miles daily. Though we may not be on the road physically, our stationary bikes will be spinning with purpose and passion!
After we were approached by Elle Daniel-McCann, her husband Steve and their daughter, Ruby, who lives with the metabolic condition, we knew we had to something to show our support for the family and what they are living with.
In January of this year Ruby was diagnosed with CDG. She has had a difficult start with lots of hospitalisations, but she is a remarkably strong girl and amazes us with the strength she shows every day. There is no cure for CDG yet, but with raised awareness, we can help to fund research into cures and life-changing treatments for children like Ruby.
CDG UK works tirelessly to provide support, raise awareness, and fund research for those affected by CDG. These rare genetic disorders affect the body's ability to glycosylate proteins and lipids, leading to a wide range of health issues. By supporting CDG UK, we aim to help fund essential research, provide resources to families, and contribute to the development of treatments that can improve the quality of life for those living with CDG.
Your generous donations will go directly to CDG UK, helping them continue their vital work. Every pound counts, and with your support, we can make a significant difference.
Please consider donating to our fundraiser and sharing our cause with your friends and family. Together, we can pedal towards a brighter future for those affected by CDG. Thank you for your support!
Let's make every mile matter! 💪🚴♂️❤️
