Story
In April 2026, I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for a South Western Ambulance Charity. Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
I have been a frontline Paramedic for 4 years and now a lead Practice Educator in Dorset. I began my running journey earlier this year and have chosen to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon next year (2026) to support my ambulance charity and would greatly appreciate any donations to reach my £500 goal to provide support for the charity.
Where will your money go? -
One of the recent fundraisers is for new Community First Responder (CFR) vehicle and equipment for these, SWASfT cover a large geographical location but donating could mean a CFR coming to your community or that of loved ones and starting to assist you where possible whilst an ambulance is on the way.
The other key fundraisers raise money for community public accessible defibrillators (CPADs). In the unfortunate event of a cardiac arrest, having accessible defibrillators in the local community is vital to beginning the chain of survival and giving that person the best chance before ambulance crews can arrival, especially in rural locations this could be several minutes. Every second counts so having CFRs and community defibrillators in these areas are so important.
The charity also supports staff wellbeing and access to services and occasionally provides items such as flasks and insulated lunch boxes for crews to be fuelled for long shifts ahead.
These are just a few examples of the many ways South Western Ambulance charity impacts both staff and the community and cannot continue without your generous donations.
