Story
On the last day of #breastcancerawarenessmonth 2023 I felt I should say ‘check your chest’ to everyone. I expect you’ve heard it a lot and hopefully you do it already but I can’t emphasise enough how important it is.
I caught my cancer early after noticing a small lump last December (I thought it was just related to stopping breastfeeding but something in the back of my mind told me to get it checked still). Fast forward 10 months and I’m so glad to be the other side of cancer now following 16 rounds of chemo (it was caught early but ‘aggressive’) and surgery and some preventative radiotherapy to come… who knows where I would be if it wasn’t for following my gut and getting checked out early.
I didn’t know what to do to mark my recent cancer free diagnosis but something that I’ve enjoyed doing whenever I could/felt well enough following treatment was diving into the sea! It’s been so invigorating for my body and mind. Soooo… (and I may regret this) to keep getting those #vitaminsea benefits and encourage you all to check your tits, I’m going to freeze my tits off once a week through the winter 🥶 and hopefully help raise awareness for two great charities. For the next 12 weeks I’ll share my swims via my stories (for proof and to keep me going) and if anyone wants to donate to @breastcancernow or @coppafeelpeople to support me then I will share a link in the comments!
Other pictures are a selection of me either enjoying the sea or trying to smile through it all (which was pretty hard when my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes all disappeared) but here I am 3 months after chemo back to work and looking to the future!
