Heart Valve Voice is a collection of people with real experiences of heart valve disease, including a multi-disciplinary group of experts in the field (cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, GPs), cardiac patient societies and patients. We address a lack of diagnosis and treatment of heart valve disease

Story

Back in December 2021, I had Heart Surgery to repair a very leaky heart valve. Whilst recovering in hospital, I said to my heart surgeon, a fellow cyclist, Ish Ahmed, that I would love to go for a bike ride with him when I was back to normal fitness.

Well, it is now finally happening!

We are going to be riding from London to Brighton to raise some much-needed funds for Heart Valve Voice. I am the current Chair of the charity, so I am fully committed to raising both some funds and awareness of Heart Valve Disease.

I am going to completing the ride with the charity CEO, Wil Woan, and our friends at the SCTS Charity,

Heart Valve Voice is the UK’s dedicated heart valve disease charity. We work with patients and clinicians to help increase the awareness of heart valve disease in the UK and improve diagnosis and treatment. Heart valve disease affects over 1.5 million people over the age of 65 in the UK and while there have been many advancements in the treatment of this disease the unfortunate fact is that far too many people are not being diagnosed and treated early enough. Our aim is to ensure that more of the population is aware of the importance of having
