Story
Chris decided that he would like to book a “FAMILY” holiday… however little did we realise it was so we could experience the conditions he endured in the North and South Pole!
We are undertaking this expedition on Baffin Island, within the arctic circle, walking a total of 100 miles on ice. Temperatures can drop to below -40° Celsius and wind speeds gaining up to 175km/h. These conditions will test us all both physically and mentally. On top of this we have the threat of polar bears, which are protected within the national park, so we have come up with a family contingency plan… method 1 use the loud and well known ‘Philpot’ voice to scare them away and if that fails, method 2 will be sacrificing Chris as he signed us all up! The trek will involve us cross-country skiing and pulling all our personal and shared equipment, totalling to around 45kg per sled. The only shame is that the brilliant Essex and Herts 🚁 service does not extend to the Arctic Circle !!
We leave London Heathrow on the 14th of March and will have absolutely no communication with the outside world, until hopefully all five of us will be returning, with all fingers and toes!!
We are asking people to please give what they think they would like to our chosen charity, we have no ‘target’. Your donations will certainly encourage us all to get through it!
