Story
In April 2027 I’ll be running the London Marathon and I’ve decided to use it as an opportunity to raise as much money as I can for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
I’ve struggled with my mental health in the past, and without going in to detail, I know how important it is to have support there when you need it, so raising money for this cause means a lot to me.
When I started training for the marathon I decided I’d wear a different football shirt for every run, mainly just as a bit of fun and to make the hundreds of miles of training a little bit more interesting.
I then had the idea of messaging football clubs to see if any of them would be willing to get involved and send me a shirt. A few clubs have already replied and been really supportive, so it’s now somehow turned into me trying to 'Run the 72' and run in a shirt from every EFL club before the London Marathon.
You can keep track of these little side challenges on my instagram @PhilRunsTheLondonMarathon
Obviously being a Liverpool fan there are a few shirts I’m going to need a bit more convincing to wear so I’m going to set fundraising targets for Man United and Everton so if people want to see me running around Liverpool wearing one of those, you’re going to have to make it worth it!
Hopefully the football shirts can make the training a bit of fun, get a few clubs and football fans involved and, most importantly, help me raise as much money as possible along the way.
Any donation at all would be massively appreciated and if you can’t donate, even just sharing the page or following along with the challenge would mean a lot.
Thanks for the support!
Phil
