Story
This April, during Colon Cancer Awareness Month, I’m running the London Marathon 2025 to raise money for the charity 40tude Curing Colon Cancer.
My dad’s been involved with 40tude for years and has taken part in lots of their incredible fundraising challenges. Watching his commitment to the cause inspired me to get involved in my own way and this marathon felt like the perfect challenge.
Over the past years or so I’ve supported 40tude by creating graphics for their challenges, events and social media. More recently, I’ve had the chance to see first-hand their work to develop a pilot testing programme. It’s been amazing to be part of the process and contribute creatively, but now I want to take that support even further by running 26.2 miles to raise awareness and funds.
Colon cancer affects 1 in 17 men and 1 in 20 women in the UK, but it’s also one of the most treatable forms of cancer when found early. Over 90% of people survive when it’s diagnosed at Stage 1 which is why awareness and regular testing are so important.
40tude is working to encourage more people especially those aged 45 and over to take proactive steps to get tested. A FIT test is a quick, simple and non-invasive home test that checks for hidden blood in your stool (an early warning sign of colon cancer). Even if you feel fine, taking the test regularly can help catch problems early, often before any symptoms appear.
If you’re in a position to donate, even just a few pounds, I’d be extremely grateful. Every donation helps fund the incredible work 40tude is doing. And if you’re not able to give right now, please consider sharing this page or looking into getting tested if you or someone you love is aged 45 or over.
Early detection saves lives. Let’s break the stigma, keep the conversation going and help make a difference together.
Thank you so much for the support xx
