Car 16 is participating again!
The Rhino Charge is an annual offroad 4x4 event that has been held in Kenya since 1989. The Rhino Charge is a unique and exciting competition that requires bravery and a high level of skill in off-road driving and navigation. The Rhino Charge is an extreme, off-road competition, through some of the most remote, difficult and challenging terrain in Kenya. It is held annually through 10 hours on one day; the winner being the vehicle to complete the 13 check-point course in the shortest distance. A maximum of 65 vehicles are allowed compete. Competition for an entry place is intense for to guarantee a place in the event, all teams must pledge to raise a minimum of up to 1.5 million Kenyan shillings (KSH) (approximately $12,000).
The event raises funds for the Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust's ecological projects that support various community-based conservation initiatives, including the world-renowned Aberdare Electric Fence Project, protection of the last 80 Mountain Bongo, and many other projects addressing the human-wildlife conflicts.
