What a Difference a Day Makes... Since 1992 Happy Days Children's Charity has been organising and funding special days out and activities for children right across the UK living with mental, physical and emotional difficulties. With your help, we supported over 30,000 children last year.

Story

Being Teddy’s Auntie was the biggest joy & honour. He had a wicked sense of humour and loved nothing more than running, swinging and jumping around in Grandma and Grandad’s garden without a care in the world. We miss him dearly.

On the morning of Sunday 21st September 2025, our nephew Edward (known to everyone as Teddy) suffered an asthma attack whilst at home with his family. Despite immediate intervention from his wonderful mummy and daddy, (my sister in law and brother in law) the attack was so sudden and so severe that it led to a cardiac arrest. Teddy was rushed to West Suffolk Hospital and underwent all the emergency and specialist care possible, but tragically he passed away that afternoon with his mummy, daddy, little sister Ava, and grandparents (my mother and father in law) by his side.

He was 9 years old.

As a family, we have been devastated by Teddy's sudden and unexpected loss and are all experiencing a sense of grief and overwhelming sadness that it is impossible to articulate, particularly at this early stage when the trauma of everything that took place on Sunday 21st is still so near at hand. As the first grandchild in the family, we owe so much to Teddy for the happy times we spent together, memories that are now more cherished than ever.

We're now forced to step into a new chapter of our family story, and do so with hearts that are heavy with unimaginable sadness, but full of appreciation for Teddy. We are determined to keep him close to us forevermore, not least to ensure that his little sister and baby cousins grow up and come to understand that Teddy is, and will always be, with us.

The outpouring of support has been an immense comfort to us all, especially Teddy's parents, and with so many kind offers of help coming forward, we'd love to do something positive in Teddy's memory. His mummy bravely set up this fundraiser for Happy Days Children's Charity, a wonderful organisation that enabled Teddy, as a neurodivergent child, to enjoy a family holiday to Centerparcs in 2022.

My husband Andy will be taking on the 2026 Manchester Marathon and my brother in law Edward, is doing the London Marathon both in memory of Teddy, so if you'd like to sponsor their efforts, we’d be enormously grateful.

Lots of love from Team Teddy xxxxx
