Story
When the Covid-19 crisis reached UK shores, Safe & Sound's trustees held their breath, unsure what the disease would mean for the death row dogs we serve. It is now clear that the Covid-19 crisis is the greatest threat we have faced as a rescue.
Following this week's lockdown announcement, adoption centres we rely upon to assist our dogs closed with immediate effect. Some of our dog wardens warn they may be forced to make "difficult decisions" in the coming days if their strays cannot be moved to safety. There is only one way to save lives: to use our "Safe Havens".
With adoption centres shut indefinitely, moving dogs to our emergency boarding is our only option. But it will not come cheap. Keeping one stray alive at our Safe Haven for a month will cost at least £360.
We are aware that many of you reading this will have lost your income overnight. We know many of our supporters will not be in a position to help, but hope that those who can, will give just a few pounds to help.
