Pink Walk in Henlow - Supporting Walk for Norks 2025 / Breast Cancer Now
The Pink Walk in Henlow
(Mini Walk for Norks - Maiya & Friends)
27th September 2025
Please sponsor me for a 10k Pink Walk in Henlow, a mini version of the official “Walk for Norks 2025”, where I will be raising vital funds for 'Breast Cancer Now'. Together, we hope to spread awareness about breast cancer and highlight the life-saving importance of early checks.

This year also marks the 5th anniversary of “Walk for Norks”, an inspiring initiative created by Dawn Dale. Dawn’s incredible dedication to raising funds and awareness has motivated us to follow her lead and host this local walk— giving me and my local friends, a chance to get involved in a really fun day, raise awareness, and make a meaningful difference (whilst having a celebratory party at the end)
Thanks to the generous match-funding support from The Davies Foundation, every £1 raised will be doubled and sent directly to Breast Cancer Now.
Why This Matters
• Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. Every 10 minutes, someone is diagnosed—amounting to around 55,000 women and 400 men each year.
• Today, more than 600,000 people are living with or beyond breast cancer in the UK.
• Age and diagnosis: Around 80% of cases occur in women over 50, and the average age of diagnosis is early 60s. But younger women can also be affected—which makes early awareness and education for girls and young women vital.
The Power of Early Detection
Catching breast cancer early saves lives:
• In England, almost 100% of women diagnosed at stage 1 are alive five years later.
• At stage 2, survival drops to about 90%—still high, but showing just how much earlier diagnosis matters.
• Later stages see survival fall much further, and treatment often becomes more aggressive.
The NHS aims for 75% of all cancers to be diagnosed at an early stage (1–2) by 2028. For breast cancer, we are already at around 85% early diagnosis, but pushing this figure higher could save hundreds more lives each year and spare many people from the harshest treatments.
Thankfully, The NHS National Disease Registration Service (NDRS) reports that across all cancer types, about 2,110 young people aged 15–24 are diagnosed each year in the UK underscoring the importance of awareness, self-checks, and regular screening.
