Story
During my Sockathon in 2023 I managed to raise £1032 in aid of Dementia UK by knitting socks. I managed to knit a sock a day during April and then as I still had donated yarn left over I continued knitting as and when through the remainder of the year ending up having knitted 34 pairs of socks.
This year will be different for me and so I'm doing an endurance Sockathon. My aim is to knit a pair of socks a week, every week during 2024. I'm hoping to get yarn donations from independent dyers to help keep me stocked up.
So if you fancy a pair, let me know your size and in return for your donation you will receive a pair of unique socks hand knitted just for you, or you can make a donation to help keep my needles clicking. If you would like to donate some yarn please contact me via https://oleanna.co.uk/contact/ after all I need to knit 52 pairs!
If I don't know you please give me one word to base your socks on. It could be your favourite colour, season, mood, whatever and I'll do my best to match your socks depending on the yarn I have.
I'm raising funds in memory of my Mum, Lil.
Twenty years ago she had become a victim of Vascular Dementia, once a six foot confident brusk woman few would mess with, she vanished before our eyes over a period of about five years. Dementia in it's many forms takes it's toll not only on the person it affects but also their nearest and dearest. Dementia UK offer the assistance of their Admiral Nurses, specialist dementia nurses who provide life-changing support to families. Many of my friends families are affected by dementia and I hope to be able to continue to raise funds to help.
